DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS OF YOUNG OFFICER’S COURSE – 30 & GRADUATION COURSE – 18 COURSE

The Young Officers Course 30 and Graduation Course 18 reunited at the College of Military Engineering (CME) Pune to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of the course which marks 60 years from the day of commission which was held on 29 Jun 1963 at the Faculty of Combat, CME.

 On Thursday, 40 of them were back to their Alma mater, CME to relive the excellent memories and to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the course. The course has fought 1965 and 1971 War with Western adversary back to back and Maj Surinder Vatsa of the course was posthumously awarded with VrC (Vir Chakra), the third Highest Gallantry Award during 1971 War for his outstanding courage and unyielding fighting spirit. Many of the veterans were accompanied with their spouse and the presence of spirited “Veer Naris” graced the occasion.
 
The celebrations commenced with the Photograph of the reunion course at the historical Main Building of CME as a backdrop, followed by an address by the senior most officer of the course, Lt Gen NP Aul, AVSM (Retd) who welcomed and congratulated all for making this far. Officiating Commandant, CME also addressed the reunion course and expressed his honour and praised the veteran’s indomitable spirit for assembling together from all across the country to celebrate the special day. He also highlighted the exceptional performance and feats of achievement of the course in the field of Military Operations, Military Sports and Civil services. He also paid homage to the fallen soldiers and expressed his wishes to those who couldn’t make it due to unavoidable commitments. A Coffee Table Book to mark the Golden Jubilee of the course was also released by the veterans
 
 In the evening, a commemoration dinner was conducted at Faculty of Combat Library, CME, the very place where the course got commissioned and wore their ranks. The event triggered an avalanche of nostalgic moments for the veterans as they remembered the comrades who could not make it to this day.
