Pune : The Grand Opening of Indo International Premier Kabaddi League (IIPKL) will be held at Shri Shivachattrapati Stadium, Balewadi, Pune on May 13, 2019 (Monday) at 6.00pm. Famous actress Kainaat Arora and dance crew MJ5, North India’s star singers MDKD and Patriotic singer Miss. Kavi Singh will be performing on the opening ceremony of IIPKL.
Virender Sehwag and Ajinke Rahane, renowned cricketers and Kabaddi lovers are proud to be the brand ambassadors of the IIPKL.
This was informed during the press conference by Veteran Kabaddi player and promoter of IIPKL, Dr. Prasad Babu and Mr. Ravikiran, Director of IIPKL. The organisers also unveiled the trophy of IIPKL in the presence of Franchisees, their Captains and International Players.
The eight teams participating in the league are Banglore Rhinos, Chennai Challengers, Diler Delhi, Telugu Bulls, Mumbai Che Raje, Pune Pride, Haryana Heros and Pondy Predators.
Prasad Babu who had played several Kabaddi matches at National and International level, informed that the 44 matches between eight teams will be held in three cities i.e Pune, Mysore and Banglore from May 13 to June 4. The prizes worth several crores will be given away to winning teams.
Addressing the press conference, Mr. Ravikiran said that the idea of organizing Kabaddi league is to promote our indigenous game of Kabaddi and take it to nook and corner of India and finally take Kabaddi to the Olympics.
Ravikiran further informed that the winning team will get prize money of Rs 1.25 crores, first runner up will get Rs 75 lakh, Rs 50 lakh as third prize and Rs 25 lakh as fourth prize. He also added that IIPKL is very happy to share the maximum money to the franchises and the players and this is for the first time that the players are also the stake holders.
Dr. Prasad Babu informed that IIPKL’s first International professional sporting event being organised with technical assistance of New Kabaddi Federation and guidance of veteran players who have brought laurels to the country.
Dr. Prasad Babu said that the league for women Kabaddi players is in the offing and plans to execute the same during November- December 2019 and the trials for the women Kabaddi league is likely to begin by August 2019.
This is a unique initiative to promote and develop the Indian rural sport of Kabaddi across the globe with latest methodologies and sporting techniques. Leading corporate houses, prominent personalities and sports enthusiasts are associated with the league. The league is being telecasted live across the globe on DSport , DD Sports and MTV along with series of regional channels and on digital platforms.
