Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Pune located near the beautiful Khadakwasla Lake, is a leading academic institution that directly comes under the Ministry of Defence. It offers M.Tech, MSc and Ph.D. degrees in various areas of Engineering and science background. It focuses on high-level research and teaching activities in view of strengthening national security and self-reliance. It is involved in the development of indigenous contemporary Defence related technologies in Advanced Sensing, Radar Technology, Data Science, Quantum communications, Energy and Environmental systems, Mechanical and Aerospace systems. Laser and Optical systems, Cyber security, Artificial Intelligence and Weapon Systems for DRDO and Defence Services. From July 2024, DIAT has started M Tech in System Engineering for L&T Defence Officers.

Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary, Deptt of Defence R&D, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest to the 13th Convocation and addressed all the passing out students of DIAT. He was accompanied by Dr. BHVS Narayana Murthy, Vice Chancellor DIAT. The Convocation was also be attended by Rear Adm N. D’souza, Commandant, MILIT, Prof. Sunil S. Bhagwat, Director, IISER, Pune, Shri Prateek Kishore, DG (ACE) and Lab Directors of HEMRL, ARDE and R&DE Engg, Pune.

During the Convocation, the institute awarded 271 degrees (M.Tech-225, M.Sc-22, MS (by Research)-01 and Ph.D-23) including 17 Gold Medals. The convocation was followed by laboratory demonstrations of the various frontier research products being carried out at DIAT in line with “Atmanirbhar Bharat”. The Secretary, DDR&D appreciated the efforts made by DIAT research team. He expressed that DIAT has made remarkable progress in the fields of technology which will continue to spur the development of the nation and help the educated youth to become self-reliant.

On the occasion of the 13th convocation, Dr. S. V. Kamat congratulated all the students for their accomplishments. He motivated all passing-out Serving Officers of forces and civil students towards contributing the nation by adopting futuristic technologies. He also expressed that research students to contribute towards taking the nation to new heights and realizing “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and further encouraged all faculty and students to work as team with the achieve collaboration to achieve significant success.

He concluded his address by extending his warm wishes and appreciation to the DIAT fraternity for their wholehearted efforts for making the event grand success.
