Why Saree Run:
Women play different important roles in everyone’s lives and are always the key to keep the entire family healthy and fit. They understand the importance of health but somehow cannot prioritize her own fitness. They face many challenges while pursuing fitness.
What better force than a saree that unites women of India! Saree being an integral part of an Indian woman’s lifestyle. unites women across age, caste, creed economic backgrounds, etc. Hence The Saree Run is platform to share their challenges and find solutions for fitness.
Addressing the media, Coach Pramod Deshpande, Race Director, Taneira Saree Run said, “Over a decade of encouraging people in fitness, we realised that women’s fitness needs more encouragement. Hence, since 2016 we have been conducting The Saree Run and inspired by the success of this initiative, we are taking it to more cities in India.
Taneira Saree Run is organized exclusively for women and is a celebration of the ability of women to transform generations by transforming themselves. The event is open to women and girls of all ages and will include a walk/jog fun run any distance of their choice, for this a route of 3 kms is marked. We welcome all women to come join hands in this All Women’s Movement. Taneira Saree Run will start from the Kashaba Jadhav Krida Sankul, Pune University, Pune on 16th April 2023 and will be flagged off at 6.30 am.” he further added.
Each participant will earn a finisher’s badge. There are various activities lined up by women wearing sarees demonstrating women power such as dhol tashaa, traditional self-defence and martial arts techniques, fun-filled traditional games and physical challenges along with light refreshments for all participants.
